#OnThisDay in @chicagocubs history ▸ Billy Williams hits for a natural cycle, scoring 4 times and driving in 2 RBIs to propel the Cubs to a 7-2 victory over the @stlcardinals in the second game of a Sunday doubleheader.

Williams becomes the first Cub player, and 8th @mlb player, to get the hits of their cycle in “natural” order (single, double, triple, and home run).  Not to be outdone, Cubs pitcher Fergie Jenkins hurls a perfect 2 innings of relief to earn the save and preserve rookie Ken Holtzman’s win.
